The Vice-President informed the Senate that the President of the Senate was acting as President of the Republic. Archbishop Barbara Gray-Burke was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. the Hon. Timothy Hamel-Smith during his absence from the Senate.

The Minister of Justice moved the second reading of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Ministry of Justice) Bill, 2011. Sen. Terrence Deyalsingh was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister in the Ministry of National Security, Sen. Faris Al-Rawi and Sen. Fitzgerald Hinds. The Minister of Justice then rose to conclude. The Bill was then considered in Committee and passed without amendment. It was then read a third time and passed.
Debate resumed (from 10 May 2011) on a Private Motion by Sen. Subhas Ramkhelawan on the process of constitutional reform. Sen. Dr. Victor Wheeler was first to contribute, followed by the Minister of Food Production, Land and Marine Affairs, Sen. Shamfa Cudjoe and Sen. Dr. James Armstrong.
At the next sitting, debate is expected on the Finance (Supplementary Appropriation) Bill, 2011. The sitting adjourned at 5:27 p.m.
