The President announced the presence in the Chamber of several visitors from the Parliament of Canada and the Parliament of Jamaica, who would serve as resource persons in an upcoming workshop on the Committee system.
The President also announced that the air conditioning system in the Chamber was not functioning due to an electrical problem, and that efforts were being made to rectify the situation.

Debate resumed (from 20 October 2009) on the Tobacco Control Bill, 2009.
Sen. Wade Mark moved a motion to adopt the First Report of the Public Accounts (Enterprises) Committee for the 2007/2008 Session. The Report was adopted.
At its next sitting, debate is expected to continue on the Tobacco Control Bill, 2009 and time permitting, begin debate on the Securities Bill, 2009. Before adjourning the President spoke briefly on the importance of Remembrance Day (November 11th), which commemorates the sacrifices made by the armed forces and by civilians in times of war.
