The Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development continued his wind up (from July 11, 2013) of the Planning and Facilitation of Development Bill, 2013. The Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development then moved that the House resolve itself into Committee to consider the Bill clause by clause. The Motion was approved. The Bill was considered in Committee and approved without Amendments. The Bill was then read a third time and passed with a divison of 26 member voting For, 0 members voting Against and 1 Abstention.
The Prime Minister moved a Motion asking the House not to proceed with sending two Money Bills, the Judges Salaries and Pensions (Amendment) Bill, 2013 and the Retiring Allowances (Legislative Service) (Amendment) Bill, 2014, which were not passed by the Senate, for assent, as stipulated by the Constitution. The Motion was approved.
The Attorney General moved Motions asking the House to agree with Senate amendments to the Miscellaneous Provisions (Administration of Justice) Bill, 2014, the Indictable Offences (Committal Proceedings) Bill, 2014 and the Miscellaneous Provisions (Prisons) Bill, 2014. The Motion was approved by a Division of 26 Members voting For, 7 Members voting Against and 1 Abstention. The Minister of Transport then moved a Motion asking the House to agree with Senate amendments the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2014. The Motion was approved by a Division of 34 Members voting For, 0 Members voting Against and 0 Abstentions.
The Minister of Justice moved a Motion asking the House to agree with Senate amendments to the Miscellaneous Provisions (Prisons) Bill, 2014. The Member for St. Joseph rose to contribute.
The Attorney General moved Motions asking the House to agree with Senate amendments to the Indictable Offences (Committal Proceedings) Bill, 2014
The Speaker invited members to bring Ramadan and Eid ul-Fitr greetings to the nation. The Member for Naparima was the first to offer his greetings followed by the Member for Port-of-Spain South. The Speaker himself then joined in giving greetings. The Member for Arima then arose to give Emancipation Day greetings. The House Adjourned to a date to be fixed.
