The Member for San Fernando East moved a Private Motion asking the House to authorise the Committee of Privileges to allow the Member’s legal representatives to address the Committee and examine any witnesses before the Committee on his behalf. The Minister of Justice made a contribution and the Member for San Fernando East concluded. The Motion did not receive the support of the majority and was defeated.
The Minister of Public Administration moved the Second Reading of the Census (2011) (Extension and Validation) Bill, 2011. The Member for La Brea was first to enter the debate, followed by the Member for Couva North and the Member for St. Ann’s East. The Minister then rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed without amendment. It was then read a third time and passed. At the third reading, a division was taken, the result of which was 35 for, none against and no abstentions.
The Attorney General moves the second reading of the Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (Amendment)(No.2) Bill, 2011. The Leader of the Opposition made a contribution, followed by the Member for Diego Martin North/East. The Attorney General then rose to conclude.
The House adjourned to Monday the 18th of April 2011. Debate is expected continue on the Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago (Amendment)(No.2) Bill, 2011. It is also the intention of the House to begin debate on the Trafficking in Persons Bill, 2011 and time permitting the Electronic Transactions Bill, 2011.
