2nd Session - 9th Republican Parliament
The Vice-President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Danny Montano (illness) and Sen. Michael Annisette (out of the country). Mr. Joel Primus and Dr. Rolph Balgobin were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Montano and Annisette during their absence from the Senate.
The Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister in the Ministry of Finance laid two Papers. See the Order Paper.
Debate continued (from October 27, 2009) on the Evidence (Amendment) Bill, 2009. Some ten Senators made interventions (12 over the course of two days) before the Attorney General rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendments. A division was taken at the 3rd reading, the result of which was 22 for, 5 abstentions.
The Senate considered House amendments to the Commissions of Enquiry (Validation and Immunity from Proceedings) Bill, 2009. The amendments were approved.
At its next sitting the Senate will consider Private Business. The sitting adjourned at 10:03 p.m.
