Leave of absence was granted to Sen. the Hon. Dennis Moses and Sen. Sophia Chote, S.C. who are out of the country. Temporary Senator Ms. Folade Mutota was appointed temporary Senators in the absence of Sen. Chote.
Temporary Senator Ms. Folade Mutota took the oath of allegiance.
The Vice-President of the Senate informed of correspondence received from the Speaker of the House of Representatives on the establishment of a Joint Select Committee to consider and report on the general merits and principles of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2019 by September 27, 2019.
The Miscellaneous Provisions (Pensions) Bill, 2019 was brought from the House of Representatives. The Minister in the Ministry of Finance moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.
The Minister of Agriculture, Land and Fisheries lodged a petition on behalf of the instructing attorney for Mr. Ronald Walcott (CEO of TSTT), Ms. Sonnel David-Longe, requesting the use of the Hansard in court proceedings. The petition was approved.

The Leader of Government Business moved a motion that the Senate concur with the House of Representatives in the establishment of the JSC on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Bill, 2019 and that six senators be appointed. The motion was carried.
Mr. Ndale Young was appointed temporary Senator in place of Sen. the Hon. Dennis Moses. Mr. Young took the oath of allegiance.
Debate continued on The Firearms (Amendment) Bill, 2019. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole Senate to be considered clause by clause. The Bill was read a third time and passed, with amendments.
The Attorney General, Hon. Faris Al-Rawi, MP, moved the second reading of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Pensions) Bill, 2019. Debate began on the Bill. Following the debate, the Bill was committed to a Committee of the Whole Senate for consideration clause by clause. With 22 votes for, 5 votes against and 2 abstentions, the Bill was read a third time and passed, with amendments.
