The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Arnold Piggott and Sen. Laurel Lezama. Mr. Noel Gayle was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Piggott during his absence from Trinidad and Tobago.

The Leader of Government Business moved a motion requesting that the Senate deal with Government Business instead of Private Business. Leave was granted.
The Leader of Government Business then moved a Motion seeking to have Ms. June Melville replace Mr. Conrad Enill on the Joint Select Committees (Parts 1 and 2). Leave was granted.
The Attorney General moved the second reading of the Evidence (Amendment) Bill, 2009. Sen. Wade Mark and Sen. Dana Seetahal, SC made contributions before debate was suspended.
At its next sitting the Senate will continue debate on the Evidence (Amendment) Bill, 2009, as well as House amendments to the Commission of Enquiry (Validation and Immunity from Proceedings) Bill, 2009. The sitting adjourned at approximately 4:32 p.m.
