The Speaker indicated to the House that he sent a letter on behalf of the Members of the House of Representatives to the Speaker of the House of Japan expressing sentiments of sadness following the earthquake and tsunami.

The Minister of Trade and Industry made a statement detailing the work undertaken during the recent trip by the Prime Minister, Ministers of Government and representatives of the business sector to the United Kingdom during Commonwealth Week.
The Association of Real Estate Agents (Incorporation) Bill, 2011 was read a first time.
The Member for Diego Martin West moved a Private Motion that asks the Government to take steps to mark the centenary of the birth of Dr. Eric Eustace Williams and to, inter alia, declare 2011 “Dr. Eric Williams’ Year”. The Leader of the House was first to contribute, following which debate was suspended.
Before adjourning the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Speaker of the House made brief addresses acknowledging the upcoming Spiritual Baptist Shouter Liberation Day. The sitting adjourned at 4:32 p.m.
