The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Sen. Basharat Ali, who was ill. The President announced the revocation of the appointment of Sen. David Abdulah and the appointment of Mr. James Lambert to the Senate.

Committee Business: Motions
Motion: Adopt Report - JSC Public Procurement

The Minister of Planning and the Economy moved a Motion asking the Senate to adopt the Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed to consider and report to Parliament on the Legislative Proposals to provide for Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Property and the Repeal and Replacement of the Central Tenders Board Act. [Second Session (2011/2012), Tenth Parliament]. Sen. Faris Al Rawi was first to contribute to the debate, followed by Sen. Helen Drayton and Sen. Dr. James Armstrong. Five Senators made contributions before the Minister of Planning and the Economy rose to conclude. The Motion was approved.
