Leave of Absence

The Vice-President of the Senate informed the Senate that the President of the Senate was out of the country, and that Sen. Corinne Baptiste-McKnight was ill. Mr. Don Sylvester and Mr. Albert Sydney were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Hamel-Smith and Baptiste McKnight respectively.

The Minister of Planning and the Economy moved the second reading of the Association of Real Estate Agents (Incorporation)(No. 2) Bill, 2011. Sen. Faris Al-Rawi made a brief contribution, followed by Sen. Terrence Deyalsingh. The Minister then rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed without amendent. It was then read a third time and passed.

The Minister of Planning and the Economy then moved the second reading of the National Ramleela Council of Trinidad and Tobago (Incorporation) Bill, 2011. Sen. Pennelope Beckles was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Subhas Ramkhelawan, Sen. Faris Al-Rawi, Sen. Dr. James Armstrong and Sen. Albert Sydney. The Minister of Planning and the Economy then rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendments. It was then read a third time and passed.
