The Vice-President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Arnold Piggott and Sen. the Hon. Conrad Enill, both of whom were out of the country. Mr. Noel Gayle was appointed to replace Sen. Piggott during his absence from Trinidad and Tobago. Ms. Anwarie Ramkissoon was appointed to replace Sen. Enill during his absence from Trinidad and Tobago.

Two Papers were laid, one by the Minister in the Ministry of Finance and the other in the name of the Minister of Energy and Energy Industries. See the Order Paper for details.

Debate resumed, from Monday October 6, 2008, on the Appropriation Bill, 2009, with the Minister of Local Government being first to contribute. In all some nine Senators made contributions before debate was suspended.

At its next sitting, debate is expected to continue on the Appropriation Bill, 2009. The Senate adjourned at 7:43 p.m.
