The Attorney General resumed his wind up to the Constitution (Amendment)(Capital Offences) Bill, 2011. The Bill was then considered in Committee where it was passed with amendments. At third reading 29 members voted for and 11 against. The Bill therefore did not receive the support of the requisite three-fourths majority and was defeated.
The Deputy Speaker moved a Motion to adopt the Report of the Special Select Committee of the House of Representatives on the Ecclesiastical Council of Spiritual Baptist Churches of Trinidad and Tobago (Incorporation) Bill, 2010. The Report, which indicated that the Petitioners wished to withdraw the Bill, was approved.
The Leader of the House indicated that at the next sitting, debate would begin on the Statutory Authorities (Amendment) Bill, 2010. The sitting adjourned at 2:47 p.m.
