The Speaker granted leave of absence from today sitting to the Prime Minister, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Opposition Chief Whip.

Debate resumed (from January 28, 2011) on a Private Motion by the Member for Diego Martin West which asks that the Government report to Parliament on how it is handling the files of the Security Intelligence Agency (SIA). The Minister of Education was first to contribute, followed by the Member for Diego Martin Central.
Earlier in the sitting, the Speaker sought concurrence of the House to have a statement made later in the proceedings. The Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs made an statement about a significant project to be undertaken in the energy sector, specifically the methanol industry.
At the next sitting, debate is expected to conclude on the Constitution (Amendment)(Capital Offences) Bill, 2011. The sitting adjourned at 4:52 p.m.
