Leave of Absence

The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Mary King. Archbishop Barbara Gray-Burke was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. King during her absence from Trinidad and Tobago.

Bills Brought From The House Of Representatives
Two Bills - Bail (Amendment) and Anti-Gang

The Bail (Amendment) Bill, 2011 and the Anti-Gang Bill, 2011, which were passed in the House of Representatives on April 1, 2011 were read a first time in the Senate in the name of the Attorney General. In the case of both bills the Attorney General sought and obtained leave to have the next stage taken on Tuesday April 12, 2011.

Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Data Protection Bill, 2011

The Minister in the Office of the Prime Minister moved the Second Reading of the Data Protection Bill, 2011. Sen. Terrence Deyalsingh was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Health and the Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education.

Government Business: Bills Second Reading
The Electronic Transactions Bill, 2011

The Committee Stage of the Electronic Transactions Bill, 2011 was resumed after being suspended earlier in the proceedings. The Bill was considered and passed with amendments. It was then read a third time and passed.
