The Miscellaneous Provisions (Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and Anti-Terrorism) Bill, 2012 was brought from the House of Representatives and was read a First Time in the name of Honourable Attorney General ( Sen. the Hon. Anand Ramlogan, SC) who moved that the next stage of this Bill be taken later in the proceedings. This request was approved.
The President granted leave of absence to Senators Faris Al-Rawi, Shamfa Cudjoe and Helen Drayton who were all out of the country. Mr. Mariano Browne, Mrs. Sherrie Ali and Mr. Albert Sydney were appointed as Temporary Members of the Senate during the absence of the respective Senators.
The President referred to a letter from former Senator Brigadier John Sandy wherein he extended gratitude for having the opportunity to serve in the Senate.
The President referred to a letter from Senator Basharat Ali giving notice of the Senator’s intention to demit office from September 01, 2012.
The President also extended Eid-dul-fitr greetings to the Muslim community and 50th Anniversary of Independence greetings

The Attorney General moved the Second Reading of the Miscellaneous Provisions (Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and Anti-Terrorism) Bill, 2012. The Bill was considered in Committee and was approved without further amendments. The Bill was read a Third time and passed with 27 Members voting for the Bill. There were no Members voting against and there were no abstentions.
The Senate adjourned at 7.36pm to a date to be fixed.
