The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Members for St. Augustine, Diego Martin West and Diego Martin North/East from today’s sitting.

The Speaker announced that Ms. Donna Cox, MP has recused herself from the Committee of Privileges since she is involved in the current matter being considered by the Committee. Ms. Marlene McDonald, MP has been appointed as a Member of the Committee for the deliberation of this matter only.

The Speaker informed the House that he had considered a request by Brig. Peter Joseph to have read into the record a reply to comments made in the House by the Attorney General in response to a Question that qualified for Oral Answer on Friday March 09, 2012. The Clerk was then instructed to read the statement of reply into the record of the House.

The House of Representatives resumed debate on the Regional Health Authorities (Amendment) Bill, 2011. The Member for Caroni East rose to continue with his contribution followed by contributions by the Members for Point Fortin, St. Joseph, Diego Martin Central, Fyzabad, La Brea and Oropouche East. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed without amendment. The Bill was then read a third time and passed.

The House adjourned to a date to be fixed. Before adjourning, Members of the House of Representatives brought greetings to the nation on the observance of Easter. The sitting adjourned at 6:55 p.m.
