Leave of absence was granted to Sen. Jearlean John, who is out of the country and to Sen. Charrise Seepersad, who is ill. Ms. Karunaa Bisramsingh and Mr. Josh Drayton were appointed temporary Senators in their place.

The Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings) (Amendment) Bill, 2023, which was passed in the House of Representatives Senate on June 28, 2023, was read a first time in the Senate. The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour, S.C., moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings. The motion was approved.

The Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Amery Browne, moved a motion that in the 4th Session of the 12th Parliament, a Committee be re-established to consider and report on the Shipping Bill, 2020 and that the Committee adopt the work of the Committee in the 3rd Session. The motion was approved.
The Leader of Government Business also moved a motion that The Private Security Industry Bill, 2022 and The Supplemental Police (Amendment) Bill, 2022 be restored to the Order Paper in the 4th Session of the 12th Parliament. The motion was approved.
The Attorney General, Sen. the Hon. Reginald Armour, S.C., moved the second reading of the Administration of Justice (Indictable Proceedings)(Amendment) Bill, 2023. Six members contributed to the debate before the wind up by the Attorney General. The bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole Senate for consideration clause by clause. No amendments were made. With 24 votes for, no votes against and six abstentions, the bill was read a third time and passed.
Sen. Wade Mark moved a private motion to annul the Industrial Relations (Amendment to the Second Schedule) Order, 2023. Two senators contributed to the debate before the wind up by Sen. Mark. With 8 votes for, 19 votes against and 3 abstentions, the motion was not approved.
