Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar sought leave to move the adjournment of the House on definite matters of urgent public importance namely the failure of the Government to provide timely access to the Children’s Life Fund to financially disadvantage children in need of urgent life-saving medical treatment and the failure of the Government to address unprecedented increase in murders in Trinidad and Tobago. The Speaker of the House was not satisfied that these matters qualified under Standing Order (17).
Hon. Colm Imbert, MP made a statement to bring clarity to the recent withdrawal from the Heritage and Stabilization Fund.
Minister in the Office of the Attorney General and Legal Affairs, Hon. Stuart Young, MP moved a motion to approve the Privileges and Immunities [CARICOM Implementation Agency for Crime and Security (IMPACS)] Order, 2016.
Hon. Ayanna Webster-Roy, MP moved a moved to adopt the Report of the Joint Select Committee appointed
to consider and report on the Family and Children Division Bill, 2016.
Hon. Adrian Leonce, MP moved the motion to adopt the First Report of the Joint Select Committee on
Government Assurances. The motion was approved.
Hon. Colm Imbert, MP moved the second reading of the Remedies of Creditors (Amendment) Bill 2016. Following the second reading, the Bill was considered at the Committee Stage clause by clause. No amendments were made. The Bill was read a third time and passed.
Hon. Stuart Young, MP moved the second reading of the Family and Children Division Bill, 2016. The Bill was then committed to a Committee of the Whole.
Prime Minister, Hon. Dr. Keith Rowley, MP paid tribute to the late Muhammad Ali. One minute silence was observed. The Speaker of the House welcomed the Speaker of the House and the Clerk of the Barbados Parliament. The Sitting concluded at 3:45 p.m. and the House adjourned to Friday June 17, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.
