25th Sitting of the Senate
2nd Session - 10th Republican Parliament
The Vice-President of the Senate granted Leave of Absence to Sen. the Hon. Brig. John Sandy. Archbishop Barbara Burke was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Sandy during his absence from Trinidad and Tobago. The Vice-President then welcomed back Sen. Basharat Ali, who returned to the Senate following an extended period of illness. Thirdly, the Vice-President invited Senators to join the Parliament team taking part in a fitness walk around the Savannah on April 28. The walk is hosted by the Ministry of Health.
The Leader of Government Business laid two Papers which were in the name of the Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs. See the Order Paper.
Sen. Corinne Baptiste-McKnight moved a Private Motion which asks that the contributions of all who served in the offices of President and Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago be recognized. The Minister of Planning and the Economy was the first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Terrence Deyalsingh, Sen. Helen Drayton and Sen. David Abdulah.
The Senate adjourned to Tuesday May 1, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. At the next sitting the Senate will continue debate on the Regional Health Authorities (Amendment) Bill, 2011. The sitting adjourned at 5:25 p.m.
