The Minister of Local Government moved the second reading of the Municipal Corporations (Amendment) Bill, 2009. Some 17 persons made contributions, including the Prime Minister, before the Minister rose to conclude the debate. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed without amendments. It was then read a third time and passed. The result of the division at third reading was 17 for, 13 against and no abstentions.

At its next sitting the Senate will continue debate on the Family Court Bill, 2009. The sitting adjourned at 10:44 p.m.
