The oath of office was administered to Mr. Foster Cummings, Dr. Glenn Ramadhar-Singh, Ms. Althea Rocke and Mr. Philippe Agostini, who replace Sen. the Hon. Conrad Enill, Sen. Wade Mark, Sen. Michael Anisette and Sen. Corinne Baptiste-McKnight respectively, during their absence from Trinidad and Tobago.
The Accreditation Council of Trinidad and Tobago (Amendment) Bill, 2008, which was passed in the House of Representatives on Monday June 30, 2008 was read a first time in the Senate. The Bill is in the name of the Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education (Hon. Christine Kangaloo, MP). The Minister moved that the next stage of the Bill be taken later in the proceedings.
Three Papers were to be laid. Two Papers were in the name of the Minister in the Ministry of Finance (Sen. the Hon. Mariano Browne) and the third in the name of the Minister of Health (Sen. the Hon. Jerry Narace), who also indicated that the Statutory Instruments Committee met and considered the Regulations and found that there was nothing to which the attention of the Senate should be drawn. He also indicated that the Minutes of the meeting were circulated. See the Supplemental Order Paper for details.
13 Questions qualify for oral answer. Five questions were answered (74, 75, 76, 11 and 15) and the remaining questions deferred. See the Order Paper for details.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education (Hon. Christine Kangaloo, MP) moved the Second Reading of the Bill. Eleven members spoke on the Bill before the Minister concluded the debate. The Bill was then considered in Committee and passed.
The Senate Adjourned to Tuesday July 08, 2008 at 1:30 pm. At the next sitting of the Senate, debate is expected to continue on the Geneva Conventions Bill 2008. The Bill is in the name of the Minister of Foreign Affairs. (Hon. Paula Gopee Scoon)
