24th Sitting of the House of Representatives
1st Session - 13th Republican Parliament
The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Members for Claxton Bay and Diego Martin West from today’s sitting. The Speaker also acknowledged the presence of students and teachers of the Hugh Wooding law School attached to the Intellectual Property Office, and a contingent of students from the University of the Southern Caribbean, in the public gallery.

Four urgent questions were approved for oral response. All questions were answered. The questions are appended to the Order Paper.

The Minister of the People, Social Development and Family Services made a statement on the efforts of the government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago to strengthen the delivery of social services and improvement of support to vulnerable citizens.
The Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs made a statement on the reappointment of the Secretary General of CARICOM.
The Member for St. Ann’s East moved a private motion asking the Government to, inter alia, clearly outline the details of its policy on the use of armed police officers in schools. Debate then began on the Motion. Four Members made contributions before debate was suspended.
Two matters were raised on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House, firstly the Member for Diego Martin North/East raised “the inadequate, irregular, and often non-existent supply of water in the constituency of Diego Martin North/East which has been affecting residents over the last eight months…” The Minister of Public Utilities responded.
Next, the Member for Mausica/Malabar raised “the need for the Minister to address the water supply issues in the Constituency of Malabar/Mausica which has been affecting residents for the last four (4) months…” The Minister of Public Utilities again responded.
Before adjourning, Members extended greetings to the Spiritual Baptist community on the occasion of Spiritual Baptist Shouter Liberation Day on March 30, 2026 and on the upcoming celebration of Easter. The House adjourned at 7:25 p.m.
