The Leader of the Opposition moved a Motion asking the House to express its concern and lack of confidence in the Prime Minister. The Minister of Housing and the Environment and Leader of the House rose to initiate the debate, followed by contributions by the Members for Diego Martin Central, D’Abadie/O’Meara, Port-of-Spain North/St. Ann’s West, Pointe-a-Pierre, La Brea, Caroni Central, Laventille East/Morvant and the Minister of National Security. After contributions from 24 Members, the Leader of the Opposition rose to conclude. The Prime Minister then rose to conclude the debate as permitted under the Standing Orders. The Motion failed by a division of 11 for, 29 against, no abstentions.
The House adjourned to Friday March 9, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at which time debate is expected to begin on the Children Bill, 2012. The sitting adjourned at 5:24 p.m. on Saturday March 3, 2012, making it the longest sitting in the history of the Parliament of Trinidad and Tobago.
