The Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition, the Member for San Fernando East and the Deputy Speaker paid tribute to Sir Ellis Clarke, first President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, who passed away on December 30, 2010 at the age of 93.
The Deputy Speaker read a letter from the President of the Senate indicating the appointment of members to the Joint Select Committee on the Anti-Gang Bill.

The Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education made a statement in the House about the Government’s policy on Tertiary Education technical and vocational education and training (TVET), as well as lifelong learning.

The Attorney General moved a Motion seeking the appointment of a Joint Select Committee to consider legislative proposals to amend the Prevention of Corruption Act. The Member for Diego Martin North/East was first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Works and Transport and the Member for Diego Martin Central. A total of 16 members made contributions before the Attorney General rose to conclude the debate. The Motion was approved.
