The Speaker granted leave of absence to the Member for Naparima (Feb 29-Mar 2, 2015) and to the Member for San Fernando West (Mar 2-9, 2015).
The Speaker acknowledged the presence in the Chamber of Mr. Martin Chungong, Secretary General of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPO) and Mr. Oscar Piquinela de Campo, Secretary of the Uruguayan IPU Group.

The Member for Laventille West resumed his contribution (from February 6, 2015) on the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Bill, 2014. He was followed by the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, the Member for Diego Martin Central and the Member for Fyzabad. Seven Members spoke before the Minister of Transport rose to conclude. Debate on the Bill was then suspended.
During debate on the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic Bill, debate was interrupted to allow members to commemorate International Women’s Day, celebrated each year on March 8th. The Prime Minister first made a statement, followed by the Member for St. Ann’s East and the Speaker of the House.
Debate then resumed (from February 20, 2015) on the Trade Marks Bill, 2014 with the Member for Point Fortin being first to enter the debate, followed by the Minister of Land and Marine Resources. The Minister of Justice and Legal Affairs then rose to conclude. Debate on the Bill was then suspended.
The Minister of Planning and Sustainable Development rose to respond to a Matter raised on February 27, 2015 by the Member for Diego Martin North/East on the Motion for the Adjournment of the House, on the following matter, “the traffic congestion that will result from a decision of the Ministry of Planning and Sustainable Development to approve the use of a building at #129 Long Circular Road in Maraval for the operation of a school.”
The Member for Diego Martin Central raised as a matter on the Motion for the adjournment of the House, “the challenges that families currently face in accessing primary education.” The Minister of Education responded.
At the next sitting, debate is expected on the Bail (Amendment) Bill.
