The Speaker granted Leave of Absence to the Member for Cumuto/Manzanilla (3-6 June) and Siparia (today).
The Trinidad and Tobago Electricity Commission (Amendment) Bill, 2009, which was passed in the Senate on June 2, 2009, was read a first time in the House of Representatives. The Bill is in the name of the Minister of Public Utilities.

The Interim Report of the Special Select Committee of the House on the Status of Children (Amendment) Bill, 2009 was presented by the Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education.

The Minister of Works and Transport resumed his contribution (from Friday May 22, 2009) on the Proceeds of Crime (Amendment) Bill, 2009, concluding the debate on behalf of the Minister of National Security. The Bill was then considered in Committee and passed with amendments. Since the Bill required a special majority, a division was taken at third reading. The result of the division was 26 for, none against, and 12 abstentions.
Debate continued (From May 22, 2009) on the Financial Intelligence Unit of Trinidad and Tobago Bill, 2009. The Member for Oropouche East was first to contribute, followed by the Minister of Public Administration. A total of six Members made interventions before the Minister of Finance rose to begin her wind-up. Debate on the Bill was suspended during the contribution of the Minister.
At its next sitting the House will debate a Motion in the name of the Minister of Works and Transport which asks the House to approve the draft of the Elections and Boundaries Commission (Local Government) Order, 2009. The sitting adjourned at 9:56 p.m.
