The President granted Leave of Absence to Sen. Dr. Adesh Nanan. Mr. Raphael Herbert Cumberbatch was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Dr. Nanan.
The President also advised that Mr. John Jeremie would replace Mrs. Bridgid Annisette-George on the Standing Orders Committee of the Senate, and that Mr. Mohammed Faisal Rahman would replace Dr. Carson Charles on the Committee of Privileges of the Senate.
Four Papers are were laid in the name of the Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister in the Ministry of Finance, and one in the name of the Prime Minister. See the Order Paper and Supplemental Order Paper for details.
26 Questions qualify for oral answer. Nine Questions (80,83,89,102,110,112,113,131,140) were answered, one (127) was withdrawn, and the rest deferred. See the Order Paper for details.

Senator Wade Mark moved a Private Motion which asks the Government to take steps to give effect to the proposals of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). The Minister of Energy and Energy Industries was first to respond, followed by Sen. Dana Seetahal, SC, and the maiden contribution of Sen. Raphael Cumberbatch. Debate on the Motion was then suspended.
At its next sitting debate is expected to begin on the Family Court Bill, 2009. The sitting adjourned at 4:30 p.m.
