20th Sitting of the Senate
2nd Session - 9th Republican Parliament
The President granted leave to Sen. the Hon. John Jeremie, SC and Sen. the Hon. Mariano Browne. Mr. Noel Gayle and Mr. Joel Primus were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Jeremie and Browne respectively.

The Minister of Health raised a matter of privilege concerning statements raised by Sen. Wade Mark during the sitting of the Senate on Tuesday June 9, 2009. The President ruled that, in his view, a prima facie case had been made. The matter was referred to the Committee of Privileges for consideration.
Debate continued (from June 9, 2009) on the Motion to adopt the Report of the Special Select Committee of the Senate on the Emergency Ambulance Services and Emergency Medical Personnel Bill, 2009. Sen. Subhas Ramkhelawan was the first to contribute, followed by the Minister of Health, Sen. Wade Mark and Sen. Gail Merhair. The Minister of Local Government then rose to conclude the debate. The Motion was approved subject to amendments. Several clauses of the Bill were then considered in a Committee of the whole Senate. The Bill was then read a third time and passed, with amendments.
At its next sitting the Senate will consider Private Business. Before adjourning, several Senators extended Labour Day greetings to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. The sitting adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
