1st Session - 12th Republican Parliament
The Clerk of the Senate read the Proclamation declaring the first Session of the 12th Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago open. The National Anthem was then played.
Sen. the Hon. Christine Kangaloo was elected President of the Senate.
Sen. Nigel De Freitas was elected Vice-President of the Senate.
All Senators took the oath of allegiance.
The President of the Senate announced that Her Excellency the President wished to address members of both Houses of Parliament and suspended the sitting.
Her Excellency Paula-Mae Weekes addressed members of both Houses.
