Announcements By The Speaker/Deputy Speaker
Leave of Absence granted

The Speaker granted leave to Mr. Kelvin Ramnath, Member for Couva South (Sep 29-Oct 08, 2006). He also indicated that the Hon. Stanford Callender, Member for Tobago West indicated that he was stranded in Tobago because of difficulties at the Piarco International Airport. Should he not be able to attend, leave would be granted.

The Hon. Kamla Persad-Bissessar, Leader of the Opposition and Member for Siparia, presented a Petition on behalf of the constituents of Siparia, concerning a severe water shortage. The Clerk read the petition.

The House adjourned to Wednesday October 4, 2006 at 2 p.m. Before adjourning, the Leader of the House (Hon. Kenneth Valley, MP) sought to correct information in the print media which stated that this was the first occasion in which a session of Parliament was opened without a Ceremonial Opening. The Speaker further reminded members of the launch of the Parliament Channel in the Rotunda following the adjournment of the House.
