2nd Session - 10th Republican Parliament
The Clerk of the House read a Proclamation declaring the Second Session of the Tenth Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago open.
The Speaker announced that the office of Deputy Speaker was vacant. Mr. Jairam Seemungal was then duly elected Deputy Speaker of the House.
The Speaker indicated that His Excellency the President of the Republic wished to address both Houses assembled together. The sitting was then suspended.
The President of the Republic addressed Members of both Houses assembled together on the occasion of the Ceremonial Opening of the Second Session of the Tenth Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.
Upon the resumption of the sitting following His Excellency’s address, the Prime Minister made a Statement in the House about the recent changes in portfolios to some Ministers, as well as the imminent move of the Parliament to a new location to allow for the restoration of the Red House.
One Bill, The Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic (Miscellaneous Provisions)(No.2) Bill, 2011, was introduced in the name of the Minister of Transport. See the Supplemental Order Paper.
The House adjourned to a date to be fixed.
