The Minister of Foreign Affairs rose to give a statement updating the House on the Prime Minister’s visit to the Republic of China.
Debate resumed on the Nurses and Midwives Registration (Amendment) Bill, 2014. The Member for St. Joseph was the first to join the debate followed by the Member for Cumuto/Manzanilla, the Member for Diego Martin North/East, the Member for Tabaquite, the Member for La Brea and the Prime Minister. The Minister of Health then rose to begin his wind up, during which debate on the Bill was suspended.
Debate resumed on the Dog Control (Amendment) Bill, 2014. The Member for Caroni Central was the first to join the debate, followed by the Member for Port-of-Spain North/St. Ann’s West, the Member for Chaguanas West and the Member for Couva North. The Member for St. Joseph rose to make his contribution followed by the Attorney General who then rose to wind up the debate. The Bill was then considered in Committee. The Bill was then passed by a division of 23 For 1 Against and 0 Abstentions.
The Member for Chaguanas West raised two matters on the Motion for the adjournment of the House. First, “the need for the government, in the public’s interest, to make a clear and definite statement with respect to the investigation into the 732 kilogram (US$100 million) cocaine seizure in Norfolk, Virginia last year, as inaccurate media reports are currently impacting negatively on public confidence in the administration of law and order and on this country’s international image and reputation.” The Minister of National Security responded.
The Member for Chaguanas West then raised a second matter, “the poor functioning of the Motor Vessel Warrior Spirit which services the domestic sea bridge and the adverse effects this is having on the travelling public and business in Tobago.” The Minister of Transport responded.
