The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Senator the Hon. Vasant Bharath, Senator the Hon. Fazal Karim and Senator Lyndira Oudit. Mr. Don Sylvester, Mr. Shane Mohammed and Archbishop Barbara Gray-Burke were appointed to temporarily replace Senators Bharath, Karim and Oudit during their absence.
The Minister of Energy and Energy Affairs made a statement on the signing of a Project Development Agreement for the creation of a methanol and dimethyl ether (DME) plnt at Union Indistrial Estate, La Brea.
The Leader of Government Business moved the second reading of the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2013. Sen. Faris Al-RAwi was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Dr. James Armstrong, the Minister of Works and Infrastructure and Sen. Fitzgerald Hinds. Seven Senators made contributions before the Leader of Government Business rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed without amendment. It was then read a third time and passed.
At the next sitting the Senate will resume debate on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Defence and Police Complaints) Bill, 2013.
