1st Session - 10th Republican Parliament
The President granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Vasant Bharath and Sen. Shamfa Cudjoe. Mr. Andy Ali and Dr. Deon Isaac were appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Bharath and Sen. Cudjoe respectively during their absence.
The President of the Senate advised the Senate of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. The Senate then stood for one minute of silence.

The Minister of Planning, Economic and Social Restructuring and Gender Affairs moved a Motion to approve the Census (2011) Order, 2010. Sen. Terrence Deyalsingh was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Dr. James Armstrong, the Minister of Public Administration and Sen. Dr. Lester Henry. Seven Senators made contributions before the Leader of Government Business rose to conclude.
The Minister of Health moved the Second Reading of the Children’s Life Fund Bill, 2010, which was passed in the House of Representatives on November 12, 2010. Sen. Fitzgerald Hinds was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Subhas Ramkhelawan and Sen. Lyndira Oudit. A total of 15 Senators made contributions before the Minister rose to wind up the debate. The Bill was considered in Committee and passed with amendment. The Bill was then read a third time and passed unanimously with a division of 25 for, none against, no abstentions.
Debate is expected to begin on the Interception of Communications Bill, 2010. Should this Bill not be passed in the House of Representatives by this time, debate will commence on the Finance (No.2) Bill, 2010. The sitting adjourned at 3:07 a.m. on Wednesday November 24, 2010.
