The Vice-President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Sen. the Hon. Bhoendradatt Tewarie. Archbishop Barbara Grey-Burke was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Tewarie during his absence from the Senate.

Debate resumed (from April 2, 2013) on the Miscellaneous Provisions (Defence and Police Complaints) Bill, 2013. The Minister of Gender, Youth and Child Development was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Faris Al-Rawi, Sen. Subhas Ramkhelawan and the Minister of Tertiary Education and Skills Training (Sen. the Hon. Fazal Karim). Debate on the Bill was suspended during the contribution of Sen. Karim.
The Senate adjourned to Tuesday April 9, 2013 at 1:30 p.m. The Leader of Government Business indicated that the Senate would consider the Motor Vehicles and Road Traffic (Amendment) Bill, 2013. The sitting ended at 4:30 p.m.
