The President granted leave of absence to Senator the Honourable Kevin Ramnarine. Mr. Arnold Ram was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Ramnarine during his absence.
Five Questions qualified for Oral Answer of which four were answered and one deferred. See Order Paper for details.
Debate continued on a Motion by Sen. Fitzgerald Hinds which asks the Senate to take note of the strengths and deficiencies of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service and its impact and potential in the fight against crime. Senator Nicole Dyer-Griffith initiated today’s debate with her contribution, followed by contributions from Opposition Senator Dr. Lester Henry and Government Senator the Honourable Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie after which debate was then suspended.
The Minister of Finance moved a Motion asking the Senate to consider House amendments to the Finance Bill, 2012. One amendment was considered and agreed upon by the Senate.
The Senate adjourns to Tuesday March 6, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. where the Senate intends to take through all of its stages the Trinidad and Tobago Postal Corporation (Amendment) Bill, 2012. The sitting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
