16th Sitting of the Senate

Eleven papers were laid in the names of the Minister of Social Development and Family Services, the Vice-President of the Senate, the Minister of Finance, Minister of Trade and Industry and Minister of Public Administration and Communications and the Minister of Health. Debate continued on the motion raised by Sen. Sturge calling on the Government to deal with the unacceptable crime level in Trinidad and Tobago. Debate will resume on this motion at another Sitting.
Sen. Khadijah Ameen raised a matter on the adjournment namely the failure of the Government to continue the use of the Biometric Smart Card System which ensures proper service delivery and accountability in the disbursement of social support services to disadvantaged persons. The Minister of Social Development and Family Services responded.
Prior to the adjournment of the Sitting, the Senate brought greetings to the Baptist community in celebration of Spiritual Shouter Baptist Liberation Day. The Sitting concluded at 6:46 p.m. The Senate adjourned to Tuesday April 4, 2017 at 1:30 p.m.
