The Minister of Finance and the Economy moved a Motion asking the House to adopt the Report of the Joint Select Committee on the Securities Bill, 2012. The Member for Diego Martin North/East was first to enter the debate. The Minister then rose to conclude. The Motion was approved subject to the recommittal of certain clauses to a Committee of the whole House. The Bill was considered in committee and passed with amendments. It was then read a third time and passed. The Bill required a special majority at third reading. A division was taken, the result of which was 37 for, none against, no abstentions.
Before adjourning, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Speaker of the House extended Christmas greetings to the people of Trinidad and Tobago. The sitting adjourned at 5:20 p.m.
