Leave of absence was granted to
- Sen. Avinash Singh and Sen. Ronald Huggins who are ill,
- Sen. the Hon. Clarence Rambharat who is out of the country and
- Sen. the Hon. Chrsitine Kangaloo (Acting as President of the Republic).
Mr. Ndale Young, Mr. Augustus Thomas, Ms. Alisha Romano and Ms. Ayanna Lewis will temporarily replace Senators Singh, Huggins, Rambharat and Kangaloo respectively at today’s Sitting.
Temporary Senators Ms. Ayanna Lewis, Ms. Alisha Romano, Mr. Ndale Young and Mr. Augustus Thomas took the oath of allegiance.
The Valuation of Land (Amendment) Bill, 2018 and the Property Tax (Amendment) Bill, 2018 were brought from the House of Representatives.

Leader of Government Business, Sen. the Hon. Franklin Khan, moved a motion that the Senate consider Private Members’ Business at today’s Sitting. The motion was carried.
Private Member’s Business took precedence at this Sitting. Senator Wade Mark moved a motion to Establish a Joint Select Committee to consider and report on a legislative formula for parliamentary autonomy in Trinidad and Tobago. Debate began on the motion.
Sen. Wade Mark raised a matter on the adjournment regarding the absence of transparency and lack of regulations governing the SSA. The Minister of National Security responded.
Sen. Mark raised another matter on the rate increases for T&TEC and WASA customers. The Minister of Public Utilities responded.
