The President of the Senate granted leave of absence to Sen. Anand Ramlogan. Mr. Rabindra Moonan was appointed to temporarily replace Sen. Ramlogan during his absence.

The Minister of Public Utilities moved a Motion which asked the House to approve the Water Improvement Rate (Point Lisas Industrial Estate)(Variation) Order, 2011. The debate was initiated by the Opposition Senator Fitzgerald Hinds followed by contributions by Independent Senator Basharat Ali, Senator the Honourable Kevin Ramnarine, Opposition Senator Faris Al-Rawi, Senator the Honourable Dr. Bhoendradatt Tewarie and Opposition Senator Dr. Lester Henry. The Leader of Opposition Business questions the Government’s intention to close down the only Youth Camp Training Facility for Girls located in El Dorado in order to construct a Nursing Academy. The Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education responded.

The Leader of Opposition Business in the Senate questions the role of the Naparima Bowl and its suitability for use as a training facility for nurses and other medical staff. The Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education responded.
