The Vice-President granted leave of absence to Sen. Prof. Rolph Balgobin.
The Vice-President advised the Senate of a letter from the Speaker of the House indicating the appointment of members to the PAC, the PAEC and the three departmental Joint Select Committees.
The Vice-President advised the House of receipt of a matter of privilege at 1:25 p.m. and indicated that she would examine and consider the matter. Later in the proceedings she ruled that she was not satisfied that the matter qualified to be raised as a matter of privilege.
The Vice-President also advised the media of the need to accurately cover the proceedings of Parliament, in response to an incorrect report of the previous day.
Debate continued on the Budget for fiscal 2011. Sen. Corinne Baptiste McKnight was first to enter the debate, followed by Sen. Prof. Patrick Watson, The Minister in the Ministry of National Security, the Minister of Tobago Development and Sen. Pennelope Beckles-Robinson. The Minister of Finance then rose to conclude.
The Senate adjourned to a date to be fixed. Before adjourning, the Leader of Government Business, the Leader of Opposition Business, the dean of the Independent Bench and the Vice-President of the Senate extended Republic Day Greetings to the nation. The sitting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
