The Budget debate continued with the Member for Port-of-Spain South being the first to contribute, followed by the Minister of Housing and the Environment, the Minister of Tobago Development and the Minister of Legal Affairs. Five Members made contributions before the Minister of Finance rose to conclude. The Bill was considered in Finance Committee and passed without amendment. At third reading a division was taken, the result of which was 29 for, 12 against, no abstentions.
During the budget debate the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Communications made a statement briefly detailing the Prime Minister’s agenda during her attendance at CHOGM 2011 in Australia.
Before adjourning, the Prime Minister, the Leader of the Opposition and the Speaker of the House extended Divali greetings to the nation.
