More than forty (40) young women met in the House of Representatives Chamber on Friday 11 July, 2025 for the Sitting of the 2025 Cohort of the Young Women Empowered to Serve (YES!) Leadership Programme, hosted by Women Parliamentarians of Trinidad and Tobago (WPTT). These young women debated a motion, raised by their Opposition Leader, Ms. TeHilla Paul, on the Strengthening of Policies, Legislation, Law Enforcement and Rehabilitation to address the issue of Human Trafficking in Trinidad and Tobago.
Preparations for the debate took place over a period of two months, with these women interacting with officials of the Counter Trafficking Unit of Trinidad and Tobago and the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs to gain valuable insights to aid their contributions.
