Mr. Vishnu Dhanpaul was appointed Opposition Senator on May 23, 2025 at the start of the 13th Republican Parliament.

He was appointed Minister of Finance on March 17, 2025.

Mr. Dhanpaul worked in several capacities in the public service, retiring as Permanent Secretary in The Ministry of Finance. Prior to his appointment as Minister of Finance, Mr. Dhanpaul was Trinidad and Tobago's High Commissioner to the United Kingdom.
