Mr. Victor Lionel Campbell was a Member of Parliament for the People’s National Movement for 25 years, from 1956 to 1981, representing the people of Nariva-Mayaro (1956–61) then Ortoire/Mayaro (1961–81).

In his first general election in 1956, Mr. Campbell won the Nariva-Mayaro seat with 80% of the 11,748 votes. He holds the record for winning the Ortiore-Mayaro seat with the highest ever support by its constituents with 89% of the 12,461 votes in 1961, a feat never exceeded by any other candidate or political party to date.

On 24th November, 1997 Mr. Campbell passed quietly on at the age of seventy-five.
