Senator the Honourable Therese Baptiste-Cornelis

Mrs. Therese Baptiste-Cornelis was appointed a Senator and Minister of Health on May 28, 2010. Mrs. Cornelis previously lectured in Brand Equity and Advertising Strategy and Management of Information Systems at the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business. She is also a Management lecturer at The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine. She holds an MBA (IT, Marketing & Strategy) from the University of British Columbia , Canada and a B.Sc. (Mathematics & Computer Science) from The University of the West Indies. Mrs. Baptiste-Cornelis was formerly the Director, Marketing & Technology of Cornelis & Associates Ltd and has developed and delivered seminars in International Business Management, Professional Leading Edge Customer Management, Stakeholder Relationship Management and Value Selling Strategies in the manufacturing, distribution, retail and energy sectors. She was awarded the Faith Wiltshire Award in 2004 for her role in Empowering Women in Information and Communications Technology. Her research interests include:
  • Leadership, with particular emphasis on toxic aspects of leadership
  • Measuring IT-related competencies, namely, IT knowledge in line managers and business competence in IT professionals and their impact on the effective deployment of IT
  • Organizational behavior in the cultural industries

In August of 2011 Mrs. Baptiste-Cornelis was appointed Trinidad and Tobago's Ambassador to the United Nations in Geneva.
