Mr. Leroy Baptiste was appointed a Senator on May 3, 2025 and assigned the portfolio of Minister of Labour, Small and Micro Enterprise Development.

Mr. Baptiste is a former President of the Public Services Association, the representing union for the largest number of public servants in Trinidad and Tobago.
