The Honourable Karen Nunez-Tesheira

Mrs. Karen Nunez Teshiera was first elected to the House of Representatives on November 5, 2007, for the newly created D'Abadie/O'Meara constituency. An Attorney-at-Law by profession, Mrs. Nunez-Teshiera was also appointed Minister of Finance in November of 2007.

Mrs. Nunez-Teshiera has had significant professional experience and has worked as an attorney-at-law and Senior Tutor (equivalent to the position of Vice-Principal) at the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad. She possesses a Bachelor of Law Degree from the University of the West Indies, and an Executive MBA from the Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business. Minister Nunez-Tesheira has written two legal texts, one on probate practice for the English speaking Caribbean and the other on ethics in the legal profession. Both are used as recommended texts by the three law school councils of legal education and by legal practitioners throughout the Caribbean.

Mrs. Nunez-Teshiera has consulted in business law for companies in the energy and manufacturing sectors and also consulted in probate matters, including the drafting of probate rules for the OECS. She has served on the Boards of the Tourism Development Company, Property and Industrial Development Company of Trinidad and Tobago and the Heroes Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at working with youth.
