
Mrs. Joanne Thomas
Mrs. Joanne Thomas first entered Parliament as the Member for St. Ann's East, following the General Elections of Monday March 24, 2010. Mrs. Thomas, a mother of one son, hails from the St.Ann’s Hills. She is an ardent Community worker and is well known for the development of youth and overall welfare of the community.
Her professional background is in banking with specialization in Human Resources. She holds a post graduate degree from the University of the West Indies. She has worked in the Trinidad Branch of one of the largest Banks in the United States for over 25 years and currently works as Assistant Vice President- Human Resources in the largest Investment Company in Trinidad and Tobago. During her Professional Career she has travelled to Training Seminars in North and South America, Mexico and the Caribbean.
She has served as a member of Council of the San Juan/Laventille Regional Corporation in the capacity as a Councillor- St. Ann’s/ Cascade/ Mon Repos West for seven (7) years and an Alderman for seven (7) years. At the Council, she also held the positions of Chairman on the Community and Social Development Committee and Chairman on the Human Resources Committee.
Mrs. Thomas has strong religious beliefs and is very active in the Roman Catholic Church in her Community. She has lived most of her life serving her community and constituents.
