Senator Helen Drayton

Independent

Mrs. Helen Drayton first entered Parliament in December of 2007 when she was appointed an Independent Senator in the 9th Parliament of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

Mrs. Drayton is an adjunct lecturer with the University of the West Indies (UWI) Arthur Lok Jack Graduate School of Business and lectures in Business Communication, Networking and Collaboration, and Corporate Ethics. 

Mrs. Drayton has over 40 years  of service with private and public sector service organizations.  She holds an Executive Masters Degree in Business Administration (EMBA) from the University of the West Indies Institute of Business, a Diploma in Bank Marketing - University of Colorado, Boulder, U.S.A. and several professional certificates.

Her professional experience includes Organization Analysis and Design; Strategic Marketing and Brand Development; Strategic Human Resource Management and Corporate Communications.  She has served as a member of the Board of Directors of RBTT Bank Limited, RBTT Trust Limited, RBTT Services Limited, BancAssurance Caribbean Limited, Corbin Compton Advertising, Trinidad and Tobago Tourist Board, the Water and Sewerage Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and was Chairman of the Caribbean Procurement Institute.

Mrs. Drayton's career with the RBTT Financial Group spanned approximately 24 years, and over that time she has held Senior Management positions including:  Executive Director – Group Marketing and Corporate Communications, Executive Director - Group Human Resources and President of Royal Bank Institute of Business and Technology – ROYTEC. She also held other senior management positions with the Unit Trust Corporation and Trinidad and Tobago Telecommunications Services Limited (TSTT).

Mrs. Drayton was the Chief Executive Officer of United Way Trinidad and Tobago and also Vice President of the World Federation of United Nations Association. She was a Board/Council member of several humanitarian organizations including: the Trinidad and Tobago Red Cross Society, Blind Welfare Association, Express Children’s Fund and the United Nations Development Fund Programme (UNDP) National Steering Environment Small Grants Committee.
